Years rolled on Shantanu forgot about what had happened in the past . He looked after his citizens of his kingdom as his own child's . Once while going on a hunt he got thirsty and stood to drink water on the banks of river Ganga . He saw a boy of an eproximate age of fourteen. Who had a bow on his hand and was showering arrows on the water of the river which were floating on the water . Shantanu was shocked he thought who could be this boy ? . I wish he could be my son .

He went forward and asked the boy" who are you ? What are you doing here?I am king Shantanu king of Hastinapur". Child replied"I am playing with my bow and arrows. " King asked "how do you know to float arrows on water ?". The boy didn't answer and disappeared.

The boy told and told what happened to his mother ( Ganga ). Ganga took the child's hand and rose from the water and introduced the boy to the king ." Oh king!  this is our son Devartha (famously know as Bhishma). He is your eighth son you except him . Take him to your capital . He has learnt sangopang Veda from Rishi Vashistha. He is a great Archer.

In war he is like devraj Indra . Both Gods and Demons respect him . Asuraacharya Shukracharya, devaguru Brahaspati what all they know he knows. Himself Lord Parashuram has given the lessons of weapons . I am sending my son to you ."

Interesting Fact :- 

Today is the date when Sri Bheeshma pitamaha was born 20 February . Today is his birthday .
