Mahabharat part -1

 Mahabharat

महाभारत

Please note:- I have already  started Ramayana but I will continue writing ramayana as well as Mahabharat. In this what ever I tell it is not my personal thoughts I am refering the book of Geeta press Gorakhpur's sancipt Mahabharat.

Mahabharat is divided into parvas where ramayana is divided into khands:-
There are 18 parvas which are:-
  1. Adi parva
  2. Sabha parva
  3. Vana parva
  4. Udyoga parva
  5. Virat parva
  6. Bhishm parva
  7. Drona parva
  8. Karnaparva
  9. Shalya parva
  10. Sauptika parva
  11. Stri parva
  12. Shanti parva
  13. Anushasana parva
  14. Ashvamedha parva
  15. Ashravasika parva
  16. Mausala parva
  17. Mahaprasthanika parva
  18. Svargarohana parva

Mahabharat is divided into 18 parvas . Mahabharat and Ramayana are two great epics of India.

Sage Veda vyasa who was belived as an avatar of lord vishnu sat for meditation to please lord Brahma . When he appeared in front of him the sage told "Oh ! Great one I want to write a epic named Mahabharat I want to know who can write it ? I will recite and he will write." To this lord Brahma replied " Oh! Great sage I reffer god Ganapati for this work he will write this Mahabharat for you ". After this Brahma disappeared. Sage went to mount Kailash to ask lord shiva to send his son for this work of writing. Shiva agreed and sent his son Ganesh. Ganesha kept some conditions that he would write this book without stopping if his pen would stop he would get up and go back to Kailash. The sage agreed to recite it on a complete flow without stoping. So when Mahabharat was written the sage would recite the story and ask Ganesh to write meaning for some shlokas when the sage would think of the next sequence of Mahabharat. So a great epic was written.
